These Terms govern your use of the Subtext mobile application ("Subtext", "the app", "we", "our"). By installing or using Subtext, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Subtext is

Subtext is an AI-powered tool that analyzes text conversations you submit and provides:

• An interpretation of tone and meaning
• Reply suggestions across different communication styles

Subtext is for entertainment, self-reflection, and communication assistance. It is not professional advice (legal, psychological, medical, or otherwise).

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Subtext. If you are between 13 and 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms.

3. AI-generated content disclaimer

The interpretations and reply suggestions Subtext produces are generated by an AI language model (Anthropic's Claude). They are opinions, not facts. They can be wrong. Use your judgment.

Specifically:

• Subtext cannot read minds.
• Subtext does not know the people you are texting with.
• Subtext's analysis is based on patterns in language, not actual intent.
• Subtext should not be used to make consequential decisions (legal, medical, relationship-ending) without consulting actual humans.

4. Subscription & billing

Free trial

You get 5 free decodes when you install the app, no payment required.

Paid plans

To unlock unlimited decodes, you can subscribe through the App Store on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis. Pricing is shown in the app and on this website. Subscriptions are processed by Apple via your Apple ID.

Trial periods

Some plans include a free trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, you'll be charged the regular subscription price.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each period unless canceled at least 24 hours before. You manage cancellation in your Apple ID settings:
Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Subtext → Cancel.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple, not Subtext. Submit refund requests through Apple's Report a Problem page.

5. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use Subtext to:

• Process content that violates someone else's privacy without their consent (e.g., decoding their texts to use against them)
• Generate harmful, hateful, or harassing replies
• Process content involving minors in inappropriate contexts
• Reverse-engineer the app or its underlying AI prompts
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Subtext access
• Submit content that violates any law

6. Intellectual property

The Subtext app, its design, its branding ("Subtext", the icon, related artwork), and the underlying source code are owned by Aura Bionics. You may use the app for personal use only.

The text content you submit remains yours. Subtext does not claim ownership of your conversations.

7. Privacy

Our handling of your data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using Subtext, you agree to that policy.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Subtext is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• That the AI's interpretations are accurate
• That the app will be available 24/7
• That the app is bug-free
• That using Subtext will improve any of your relationships, conversations, or outcomes

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aura Bionics' total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Subtext is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

10. Termination

You may stop using Subtext at any time by deleting the app and canceling your subscription. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms over time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Aura Bionics is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles.
